Elizabeth River Trail
The Elizabeth River Trail is 10.5 miles along the Norfolk waterfront. The trail map highlights each of the 11 trail segments as well as plenty of landmarks, parks, and parking areas along the route.
Engineer Wharf
Engineer Wharf Fishing Pier, situated near Continental Park on Fenwick Road, is managed by the City of Hampton. Fishermen can enjoy daily access from sunrise to sunset, with a Virginia Saltwater Fishing License obligatory.
False Cape State Park
Featuring six miles of unspoiled beaches in an ocean-to-freshwater bay habitat, False Cape State Park also includes dunes, woodland, farm fields, salt marsh, maritime forest and wooded swamps. From April through October, visitors may travel into the heart of the park on a tram and explore by foot from there.
First Landing State Park
First Landing State Park is a 2,888-acre park that fronts the Chesapeake Bay and features 1.25 miles of beach and more than 19 miles of interpretive hiking trails through protected salt marsh habitat, freshwater ponds, beach, dunes, forest, tidal marsh and cypress swamp.
Fort Boykin
Fort Boykin, originally constructed in 1623, is today a well-preserved example of military architecture of the Civil War era.

This nature preserve encompasses over 112,000 acres of wildlife
observation, history, mystery, and lore. Fishing and boating are
permitted year round on the waters of Lake Drummond, a 3,100-acre
natural lake in the heart of the swamp.
Grommet Island Park
This 15,000 square foot beach park features wheelchair accessible entrances and an incredible playground that includes poured-in-place surfacing, raised sand tables for sandcastle building at an accessible height, a sensory board for children who are autistic and visually impaired, and a sway boat.

265-acre freshwater reservoir in southeastern Newport News Park, containing bass, pickerel and sunfish. Adjacent to hiking trails, picnic shelters, and a 5-mile mountain bike trail. Private watercraft launching with electric motors only. 
Hayden's Lane
Originally the driveway to girls' school Hayden Hall. The Woman's Club of Smithfield and the town created a lovely sitting garden and walkway to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Hercules VDWR Boat Ramp
Enjoy smooth access to the Nottoway River at Hercules DWR Boat Ramp with a concrete ramp and pier. Ample parking, well-maintained facilities, but note, no fishing off the pier.
Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve
142-acre wildlife park along Hoffler Creek with access to the James River. Three-miles of trails, four separate habitats, riparian forest, fresh water lake, salt marsh, tidal creek.
Huntington Park
A 60-acre park with public beach, public boat ramp, rose garden, picnicking, fishing, ball fields, a 14,000 sq. ft. playground overlooking the James River, 20-lighted tennis courts, and a museum.

James City County Marina
The Marina offers boat slips; dry land storage; marine-grade (REC-90), ethanol-free fuel; year-round bike and paddle craft rentals; a double-wide boat ramp; paddle craft launch area; marine head pump-out; a waterfront picnic shelter; and a butterfly garden.

Beautiful landscaping and waterfront views set the tone for these easy, stonedust trails. You can enjoy walking or biking along the trail through beautiful Lake Meade. It is located in the downtown business district, behind Kroger’s on Main Street. The park includes a paved loop trail around the playground. Trails include a 1-mile, .33-mile, and .6-mile distance.

Floating docks with full-length finger piers for mooring vessels up to 43’. Three concrete seawalls provide protection from severe weather. The 200 wet slips equipped with water and electrical hookups.
Little Island Park
Little Island Park is a 122-acre beach park in Sandbridge, just north of Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. The park has a 775-foot beach north of the 400-foot fishing pier for surfing and a 2,000-foot beach for swimming and fishing south of the pier.
Lone Star Lakes Park
A series of 11 lakes (some interconnected) varying in size from 3 to 50 acres. The total acreage is 490. The park contains 1,172 acres and offers picnicking and hiking, as well as an archery range and horseback riding trails. There are two ramps, one at Butler Tract and the other at Crane Lake, providing boat access to these outstanding fishing waters.

Stretching along the Atlantic Ocean from Croatan to the South and up to the North end, the Oceanfront is where the action is. Live music, street performers, outdoor cafes, wide sandy beaches, and our famous three-mile boardwalk perfect for rollerblading and jogging.
Olde Towne Portsmouth Seawall
The Portsmouth Seawall is a one and a half mile linear park with a wide, concrete walking path that extends from the Naval Hospital and Crawford Bay through the parking lot at Tidewater Yacht Marina, the North Landing, High Street Landing, and on to the Harbor Pavilion. It’s well lit for a nighttime stroll and it’s a great place for jogging and other exercise.

Waller Mill Park
Waller Mill Park is located at 901 Airport Road (Rt. 645) between I-64 and Rt. 60 West. This 2,705-acre park is situated around a reservoir that was opened to the public in July 1972. The 360-acre lake is open for fishing, boating, pedal boating, canoeing and kayaking with a tunnel connecting the upper and lower sections of the lake. Numerous picnic tables, picnic shelters, play fields, and playground equipment are nestled among the trees providing a scenic picnic area.
